Introduction:

What comes to mind when you think of God? Perhaps an ominous Being who seems far removed from real life? But God is closer than you think! You have been given an awesome opportunity to connect with God in your own personal way.

What Does God Mean to You

God may seem far away to you, but He really isn’t. In fact, He’s closer than you may think. King David once said:

Psalm 139:7-10 Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.

Even if we drift far away from God, He will never be far away from us.

God is omnipresent. This means that He is always present everywhere and continuously and simultaneously present throughout the whole of creation.

Acts 17:24-28 God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands. Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things. And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their reappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; for in Him we live and move and have our being.

The thought of God and His power and omnipotence can be a bit daunting to human comprehension, but if you want to know what God is like, just look at Jesus. Jesus was His representative who came to earth to connect with us and to show us how we could find our way to God, His Father.

John 14:7 If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.

You have been given an awesome opportunity to connect with both God and Jesus in your own personal way.
